De Stjil
After the horrors of World War 1 , the De Stjil art movement wanted to reshape humanity .Utopian perception of spiritual harmony , this was created with the abstract art of 'The Style'. This art movement used mainly horizontal and vertical lines , squares and rectangles , mainly with the primary colours red , yellow and blue and added black and white .De Stjil is influenced by Cubism, Supremism and DADA. They created an abstrack style to the artworks.
Mondrian painted a large red square off centre upwards with a small blue square on the lower left corner and a yellow square opposite . it is simple and yet the abstract lines make a complex thought provoking design.
This artword compared with Mondrian's work has a few similiarities , the linear shapes , the black and white and mostly primary colours are used to , just like the De Stijl Artists, create on a plane an abstract art piece.
